がんや脳の早期診断に活躍する陽電子断層撮像法（PET）の次世代装置の研究開発で世界をリード．千葉大学，横浜市立大学，東北大学の客員教授も務める．初代MICE誘致アンバサダーとして，原子核物理と医用イメージング応用のメイン学会であるIEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conferenceの2021年大会の日本誘致に成功．同大会は完全バーチャルを余儀なくされたが、2025年に当初プラン通りパシフィコ横浜での開催を予定している．

A researcher who leads the development of the next generation positron emission tomography for early diagnosis of cancer and brain diseases. He succeeded to host 2021 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (NSS-MIC) in Yokohama with the support from Japan National Tourism Organization. Although the 2021 NSS-MIC was held as a virtual conference, 2025 NSS-MIC will come back to Japan again, to be held at PACIFICO Yokohama.
