北村 喜文 教授 / Dr. Yoshifumi Kitamura

東北大学 電気通信研究所 教授・副所長

東北大学 電気通信研究所 教授．博士（工学）。1987年大阪大学大学院基礎工学研究科博士前期課程修了。同年キヤノン株式会社、1992年ATR 通信システム研究所、1997年大阪大学大学院工学研究科／情報科学研究科 助教授／准教授。2010年より現職。2018年より副所長。

ヒューマン・コンピュータ・インタラクション、バーチャルリアリティに関する研究に従事。国際会議IEEE VR、3DUI、JVRC、ICAT、EGVE、ACE、ACM VRST、ITS/ISS、SIGGRAPH Asia、CHI 等でいろいろな役割を務めてきた。例えばSIGGRAPH Asia 2015 Conference Chair、CHI 2021 General Chair等。VRST、3DUI、SIGGRAPH Asia、ICAT、EGVE、CHI 等でSteering Committee委員も務め、その中で2015年からVRST Steering Committee Chair。国際的な学会組織では、IFIP TC-13 日本代表、Liaison for Japan and Chair of ACM SIGCHI Asian Development Committee (2015-2021年)等を務めている。

日本政府観光局のMICE アンバサダーにも認定されている。

 

Deputy Director and Professor, RIEC, Tohoku University

Yoshifumi Kitamura is Deputy Director and Professor at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University.

His research interests include interactive content design, human computer interactions,3D user interfaces, virtual reality, and related fields.

Prior to arriving at Tohoku, he was an Associate Professor at Graduate School of Engineering, and Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University. While working at ATR Communication Systems Research Laboratories, he focused on sophisticated user interfaces in virtual environments. His first formal appointment was in the Information Systems Research Center Canon Inc., where he was involved in research on artificial intelligence, image processing, computer vision, and 3D data processing.

He is active in academic and professional communities, and serves in positions such as the Liaison for Japan and Chair of ACM SIGCHI Asian Development Committee (2015-2021), Chair of Japan ACM SIGCHI Chapter, Steering Committee Chair of ACM VRST, SIGGRAPH Asia 2015 Conference Chair, and ACM CHI 2021 General Chair.
